for your immediate consideration!

PLEASE READ AND COMMENT SOON!!! (this is what we discussed during our meeting today! if i missed anything, please feel free to add it on.)

1. your art - how big is it? how much of it is there? how much space would you ideally like to have? please put down your "best case scenario" with the understanding that we have a lot of people and probably need to edit and negotiate!

2. your needs - do you want that "darkened room"? do you need outlets? wall space? floor space? other?

3. our postcard - we are taking a group "family portrait" on thursday at 7pm, meeting at F121, wear something fun, bring a bunch of different things. (costume and props)

4. artist statement - do we want a uniform format? do we want them displayed in a book? posted on the wall next to artwork?

5. other branding stuff - individual postcards? music? business cards? guestbooks?

    1. Installation - so big.
    2. Smaller room- dark isn't necessary but i can deal if need be.

  2. 1. 5 small wall pieces, about 5 feet of wall space needed.
    2. I would like the darkened room, but if not I can just remove the lights that are above wherever my wall will be. I also need to be near an outlet. (I have two-way mirrors and so it can't be too bright or you will not be able to see through)
    3. Oops.
    4. The book is fine for an artist statement, I may also be including a small tag to put next to my piece with a few sentences.
    5. I will have business cards to put out, I don't care where though.

Other: I don't have photos of my new thesis work yet, but it will be very similar to the wall pieces I made for my senior thesis which can be seen here http://paulaliztorres.blogspot.com/2009/04/operation-bootstrap.html

  3. 1. I have two paintings, both shaped wooden surfaces that hang on the wall. one piece is 45"x43", and the other is 45"x50". The hang one next to the other with roughly 25" in between, which means that I would be totally fine with just over 9' for display. I would prefer to not be placed on a wall with either outlets or fire alarms, but if that's how the cookie crumbles then so be it! Larger than 9' would also be fine.

    2. As I said, 9' or larger would be splendid, and preferably on a wall with my work to themselves.

    3. done and done (as of tonight).

    4. If I am asked to include an artist statement then I would rather have them available for display in a book separate from my work.

    5. It's all gravy to me, whatever everyone wants to do individually I will have no problems with. barring someone actually setting fire to my paintings. or peeing on them.

  5. . your art - i have some big wall stuff 3 pieces to be exact. 2 tulle paintings and one ruffle piece...
the ruffle piece is about :35"X35"
the blue tulle painting is about:50"X50"
the red tulle painting is about:40"x40"
i would prefer they have their own wall. ( if thats possible)
i also have the masks-3 of them.
i was thinking about getting one long pedestal for them and putting them on stands. the pedestal might have to be around:6/7 feet???
i would rather not have the pedestal in the middle of the room, because hats without heads are wobbly, but i am flexible.

2.i need a wall some corner space. (negotiable)

    3. present.

    4. id rather have an artist statement in a book.

    5. im down with individual postcards...might not do it myself, but maybe ill have business cards...maybe.

    music --and drinks??? yes!!!

  6. 1. i have 5 paintings that are, vertically oriented, 2ft x 4ft. and possibly a book for reading (would be on a pedestal.) though i'm still playing around with the arrangement, the paintings seem pretty happy when they are a little over a foot apart. so that would be a wall that would (ideally) be like 18 or so feet long. but i am flexible, and can include fewer paintings!

(also - pictures of my work to come soon)

    2. wall, please! ideally one of those 18+ ft ones, but i am totally flexible!

    3. i really had so much fun!

    4. if we have them, i think i like them in a book together rather than on the walls next to work.

    5. i am all about guestbooks and individual postcards/biz cards for display - i like the idea of people (who would want to) having little pedestals near their work with those things - MAT 2009 did that (at least one of the semesters), and i loved it. i would be down for music, as well. something happy and yet also classy, like motown/stax or big band/swing.

  7. 1. I will have 4 frames wall pieces - one is 30x30 and three are 20x24 (horizontal). I would like one of the 18+ ft walls as well, please! (also preferably no outlets/fire extinguishers,etc)...there is a possibility that I may have one more piece, so i'll need the space.

    2. wall space please

    3. yay! so much fun.

    4. artist statement in a book works for me. I might also hang a little blurb on the wall/pedestal to explain my work.

    5. i will (hopefully) have some individual postcards and would love to have an individual guest book for my work (like what caro was talking about). I guess I would need a pedestal? or one of those wall shelf things? music and food, yes please!

  8. 1. work consists of several small pieces installed on the wall.
    2. about five or six feet wide wall space needed with good lighting.
    4. I would like my artist statement to be accessible, whether it's in a book on the wall, as long as it's out there.
    5. are we asking how these business cards, etc. will be arranged or just if we want them. I would like to have some personal things such as business or post-cards.
